Discover garlic's surprising role in household cleaning amidst rising inflation
In times of soaring inflation, many are looking for ways to save money. These savings can even extend to household cleaning, which often consumes a sizeable chunk of the budget. It can be beneficial to replace traditional cleaning agents with familiar, readily available products.
As odd as it may sound, garlic is excellent for maintaining the cleanliness of your toilet. Not only is it effective, but it’s also cheap and eco-friendly. It's definitely worth trying.
Drop a garlic clove in the toilet and the results may surprise you
Garlic contains allicin - a compound with potent bactericidal and antifungal properties. It’s effective at inhibiting the growth of microorganisms, making it an excellent natural disinfectant for your toilet.
Something as simple as dropping a single peeled clove of garlic into the toilet bowl and letting it sit overnight can work wonders. It's advised to do this in the evening, given that toilets are typically used less throughout the night.
Come morning, all that you need to do is flush the toilet for a quick and simple cleanse. Repeat this process twice a week. If anyone uses the toilet during the night, drop another clove in after flushing.
Garlic and tea can tackle yellow stains in the toilet
Garlic can also function as a cleaning agent for those pesky yellow stains that often appear in toilets. Boil a cup (250 ml) of water with three pre-peeled garlic cloves, add a tea bag, and let it brew.
Afterwards, pour this mixture into the toilet, ensuring that it coats the inner walls. Leave it to sit overnight and by morning, after a quick flush, those yellow stains should be gone. If some stubborn stains remain, repeat the process the following night.
