Volodymyr Zelensky spoke on Tuesday during an extraordinary plenary session in the European Parliament, commemorating 1,000 days of the Russian invasion of Ukraine. He connected with the attendees remotely.
The Ukrainian president expressed gratitude, among other things, for the fact that "not a single one of the thousand days of this terrible war has become a day of betrayal of our European values." - We have succeeded not only in preventing Putin from taking Ukraine but also in defending the freedom of all European nations - said Zelensky.
"Together we can force Russia"
The President of Ukraine also stated that "even with North Korea on his side, Putin remains weaker than a united Europe."
- We must push Russia toward (a) just peace - said Zelensky, also reminding that two years ago Ukraine proposed a peace formula and the European Parliament was one of the biggest supporters of this solution.
Zelensky also called on EU politicians to ensure that every attack and threat from Russia is met with harsh sanctions capable of radically reducing the Kremlin's economic and military capabilities. As he noted, Moscow is still earning from the sale of oil transported by the so-called shadow fleet. As long as this kind of business exists, Russia will keep killing. Severe sanctions are crucial, he conveyed.
Zelensky on Putin: He won't stop
- Putin is focused on winning this war, he will not stop on his own. The more time he has, the worse the conditions become. Every day is the best moment to push Russia harder - said Zelensky. In his opinion, Russia should be deprived of resources used to finance purchases and production of ammunition and drones, and its military bases should be destroyed.
The Ukrainian President also released a video titled "1,000 days together, 1,000 days of Ukraine" on platform X.
