Wounded and abandoned: A Russian mother's harrowing tale from the front lines
Anton Heraszczenko, on his X profile, publishes numerous materials that show what's happening during the war in Ukraine. This time, the advisor to the head of the Ukrainian Ministry of Internal Affairs shared a recording that features the mother of a Russian soldier. The woman talks about the tragedy that occurred to her son.

Anton Heraszczenko, advisor to the Ukrainian Ministry of Internal Affairs, posted a video on social media in which the mother of one of the Russian volunteers, who went to "defend the homeland in Ukraine," described what her son was facing in the Russian army.
"Hello, I am the mother of a soldier participating in the 'special operation.' My son is a volunteer contractor, who voluntarily signed a contract and went to serve, to protect people and the homeland. He is very young, he is only 20 years old," the woman began.
Then, she informed me that her son had been wounded twice. "The second time was in the town of Avdiivka. No help was provided to him. He was sent to the hospital, but they only kept him there for five days before sending him off. He had a light concussion and a shrapnel wound under his eye," she said.
"My son is losing his sight, but that's only half the problem," she added. It turns out that when the 20-year-old refused to go to the front - specifically to participate in the so-called "meat assault" - he was severely beaten by his commanders.
"They drove him by car to a field, beat him, and left him there. They took his personal belongings, documents, cards. He's afraid to go back. (...) He told me: 'Mom, I don't want to die. What's happening there is so lawless,'" she confessed.
In the woman's report, it also becomes apparent that Russian commanders were also mocking and torturing their soldiers "as much as they possibly could." "They do whatever they want. There's no control over them. It's very far away, so there's no way to go there and sort it all out," she emphasizes.
The mother of the 20-year-old also confessed that she is fighting for her son not to go to war again. "There are many killed, many wounded who are not taken from the battlefield because there's no evacuation at all," we hear in the video. Perhaps the Russian woman's account will serve as a good warning for future volunteers who go to die for Vladimir Putin.
