These shell-less pests are a real headache for gardeners. Their absence of a shell makes them easily recognizable. Slugs can quickly devastate your plants, with a fondness for cabbage and lettuce. It's crucial to act promptly once you spot them in your garden.

A fruity trap for slugs

For slugs, our gardens are paradise, not just because of the plethora of their favourite plants but also due to the ideal living conditions. Slugs are also not averse to feasting on the small insects that reside in gardens, especially during the warmer months.

So, how can we efficiently get rid of slugs from the garden? A grapefruit turns out to be an effective lure. Slugs find it irresistible. Place half of a grapefruit in an area where you've noticed slug activity. Grapefruits, abundant in essential oils, quickly attract slugs, effectively trapping them. You can then gather and dispose of these pests from your garden.

Adhere it to fences and pots. Slugs will steer clear

Copper acts as a repellent for slugs. Upon contact with copper, slugs experience an unpleasant shock, which deters them from entering our garden. Investing in self-adhesive copper tape and attaching it to fences, pots, or other susceptible spots is a safe and humane strategy to ward off these unwanted visitors.
