The KB5043131 patch for Windows 10 is an update that introduces several changes to the system. Users also get a new option to move their profile picture in the Start menu. The rest are mainly bug fixes, including fixing Edge hanging in IE mode or issues with playing sound when the user has selected surround sound, notes the website Neowin.

Windows 10 users can also expect more stable performance from File Explorer. Microsoft has removed the issue with the taskbar and Explorer hanging in certain situations. The fixes also address the display of Windows Update notifications, which will now be shown after the user logs in. The documentation describes other changes in KB5043131.

Unfortunately, after installing KB5043131, users may also encounter new bugs. Microsoft describes potential issues with changing the profile picture. These might manifest as an error message with code 0x80070520. The manufacturer states that work is already underway to fix this problem, but there is currently no solution to bypass it. Windows 10 users simply need to be patient.

It's worth remembering that optional updates do not concern system security. Users may choose to install them to gain new features or bug fixes more quickly, but such updates do not affect Windows's security in the context of cyberattacks. Suppose a user does not choose to install KB5043131 on their own. In that case, the changes from this patch will be implemented automatically later, during the next security patches, as part of Patch Tuesday of the following month.
