The woman from Texas, USA, has the widest tongue in the world. Brittany Lacayo's tongue is 8 cm at its widest point, more than a hockey puck and almost as wide as a credit card.
According to guinnessworldrecords.com, her tongue is 2.5 cm wider than its length, measured from the tip to the middle of the closed upper lip. In fact, 8 cm is exactly the same size as the average length of a woman's entire tongue.
This record has not been broken for 10 years. The previous record holder was Emily Schlenker from the USA, who earned the title as a teenager with a tongue width of 7.3 cm. Brittany, a lawyer, always knew she had an exceptionally large tongue. She stated that her family often joked about it when she was a small child.
However, she never considered that hers might be the widest in the world. Everything changed when her best friend sent her a video of Emily Schlenker, which inspired Brittany to measure her own tongue.
"Shock" and "curiosity" are the main reactions that Brittany feels when people first see her tongue.
She hasn’t ever shown it to her colleagues, nor has she told them about her record, but she’ll no longer be able to bite her tongue now that we’ve announced it - emphasizes the official Guinness World Records page.
Lawyers from the USA with more records
Brittany is not the only American lawyer to have broken a record recently. Alexander Capogna performed the most push-ups from the chest to the ground in one hour, achieving 1246.
The record for the widest tongue among men is 9 cm and belongs to Brian Thompson from the USA. The previous record holder was Byron Schlenker, Emily's father.
