WhatsApp beta tests music for status updates in the latest feature
WhatsApp is developing another new feature for its messenger service. According to one of the latest updates for beta testers, users will soon be able to add music as a background to their statuses, which will make WhatsApp updates more appealing.
WhatsApp continually enhances its messenger by introducing new experimental features, and the latest Android beta version update is no exception. As highlighted by the WABetaInfo service, adding musical tracks as a background to statuses has entered public testing. This can enhance the appeal and potentially make statuses somewhat similar to stories on Instagram or Facebook.
A WhatsApp user wishing to add a musical background to their status can use the "extensive library of tracks" Meta offers. Although specific details about the library's size aren't provided, the screenshot shows that widely known songs by popular artists can be used (the screenshot includes a song by ABBA) rather than just instrumental, original music tracks intended merely to complement graphic content.
The new option to add music to statuses has been spotted in the messenger in the Android version 2.25.2.5 beta. As is often the case with WhatsApp's tests, this new feature is only visible to some users, not everyone who downloads the beta version.
However, the tests are now public, which suggests that we are nearing the implementation of this feature for everyone in the stable messenger release. The WhatsApp team typically begins testing new features mentioned by WABetaInfo with closed tests, which is common for the initial developmental phase of any new option.
