The United Kingdom has been facing a series of violent riots for several days after, in Southport near Liverpool, a 17-year-old knife-wielder killed three young girls and wounded five other children.
The attacker was a British citizen with Rwandan roots, which has sparked anti-migration and far-right protests, met by counter-protesters.
Violent clashes have erupted in numerous cities across the country. More than 400 arrests have been made. Prime Minister Keir Starmer convened a COBRA meeting to formulate an action plan.
Countries warn travellers
Some countries reacted immediately and issued warnings. The first was Malaysia, which urged its citizens in the United Kingdom to avoid areas affected by protests, monitor the latest updates, and follow local authorities' advice.
Similar warnings were issued by Nigeria, Switzerland, and Indonesia.
Meanwhile, Canada and Australia issued warnings for travellers to the United Kingdom to exercise a high degree of caution "due to the threat of terrorism."
