"Russian planes maintained their location in international space and did not encroach on American or Canadian sovereign airspace", reads the statement.

Russia verifies bomber overflight
The Russian Defence Ministry affirmed on Wednesday that it had dispatched two strategic bombers close to Alaska. According to the ministry, these aircraft journeyed over waters in proximity to Alaska but did not infringe on US airspace.
"The flight was conducted entirely in accordance with the international regulations pertaining to airspace", stated General Sergey Kobylash, commander of the Russian long-range aviation.
He noted that the sortie involving the two bombers lasted around 9 hours, with the aircraft being accompanied by two Su-30SM fighters. The operations were conducted over the Bering Sea and Chukchi Sea.
