Undersea cable linking Finland and Germany severed in Baltic Sea

Swedish authorities reported on Friday that another undersea cable in the Baltic Sea had been severed off the coast of Gotland. The Stockholm prosecutor's office has launched an investigation into the matter.

According to the Swedish Coast Guard, the incident involves a cable connecting Finland with Germany.

Swedish Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson wrote on platform X that he has "for some time now" been aware of the cable break. He assured that the government is being kept informed about the situation.

We take all reports of infrastructure damage in the Baltic Sea very seriously. (...) They must be considered in light of the serious threat to security - emphasised Kristersson.

It is unclear when the cable was severed.
