UK's energy makeover: Heat pumps and EVs to lead green push
The UK government is planning an energy revolution, during which heat pumps and electric cars will play a pivotal role in transforming the appearance of British homes.

The British public faces the challenge of meeting the ambitious zero-emission targets set by the UK Prime Minister, Keir Starmer. These targets involve replacing traditional gas boilers with heat pumps and transitioning to electric cars. The Prime Minister announced at the COP29 climate summit the goal of reducing emissions by 81% by 2035.
Heat pumps and electric cars as the key to success
According to express.co.uk, Pinchbeck from the climate change committee warns that a green energy network alone will not suffice to achieve government goals by 2035. The introduction of technologies that enable the use of clean energy in homes is crucial. The "secret weapon" for the next decade is expected to be heat pumps and electric vehicles.
It was previously suggested that heat pumps should be installed in one million homes annually by 2030. Last year, around 61,000 were installed. Conservatives warn that the Labour Party's promises may lead to "sacrifices and difficulties," necessitating the abandonment of high-carbon footprint products and petrol and diesel vehicles.
Claire Coutinho, the energy secretary, questions these plans, emphasising that the UK contributes just 1% of global emissions.
