Ukraine reclaims snake Island: Unseen footage of daring assault revealed
The Ukrainian Armed Forces have published a unique recording showing how Snake Island was recaptured from the Russians. The operation involved Ukrainian air forces and the use of firearms on the Island.
The Ukrainians liberated Snake Island in June 2022. The impressive operation included the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) units and the Ukrainian Military Intelligence. Two years later, footage of the counterattack appeared online.
How did the recapture of Snake Island proceed? The Ukrainian Armed Forces attacked from the air, striking buildings on the small rocky island. They methodically combed the area, eliminating the enemy.
Finally, the SBU and Ukrainian intelligence recaptured a vital point in the fight for the Black Sea. After the counterattack, the Russians gradually withdrew their units from the waters near Snake Island.
The Ukrainian Armed Forces remember the victims
The Ukrainians appeal to remember those who died during the battle to defend Snake Island, which has belonged to Ukraine since the dissolution of the Soviet Union.
The special operation to liberate Snake Island became an example of the boundless courage and professionalism of our soldiers. We remember the heroes of Ukraine who gave their lives in this battle. Today, we continue to fight and know the enemy is doomed, and revenge is inevitable! - wrote SBU representatives in the description under the film.
It should be noted that one of the first battles of the full-scale invasion of Ukraine, which began in February 2022, took place there. The crews of Russian warships called on the island's defenders to surrender. In response, the commanders of the Russian units heard the now-legendary words: "Russian warship, go f**k yourself".
The island was then lost, and contact with the defenders was severed. It seemed that the island's defenders had died. Ultimately, they were taken into Russian captivity and released on 24 March 2022.
