Many of the reports provided by Russian media or government representatives are propaganda. They are part of the Russian Federation's information war.
On Sunday at 8 PM GMT, the Reuters agency, citing several sources familiar with the matter, reported that the administration of U.S. President Joe Biden had given the green light to Ukraine for using American weapons to strike targets deep within Russia.
As reported by Reuters, Ukraine is set to conduct its first long-range attacks in the coming days using ATACMS missiles with a range of about 300 kilometres. Russia's deployment of North Korean ground troops at the front was said to have influenced the change in U.S. decision-making.
"This would mean that NATO countries are at war with Russia"
The first suggestion that the U.S. might reconsider the imposed restrictions on Ukraine appeared in September.
Putin cautioned in a video shared on Telegram at that time that if such a decision were to be made, it would signify the direct participation of NATO countries in the conflict in Ukraine, changing "the very nature of the conflict dramatically". "This will mean that NATO countries — the United States and European countries — are at war with Russia," he stated.
Later on Sunday, one of the best-known Kremlin propagandists, Margarita Simonian, commented. "I don't know why, but I know it leads to nothing," she remarked in the first of her posts on Telegram.
In the second, she referred to the play "Heartbreak House," stating that it is "her favourite work in English." "You can only read the ending," she proclaimed. Meanwhile, Bernard Shaw's play ends with an air raid and an explosion.
On Monday, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov commented on the U.S. decision and stated that U.S. President Joe Biden is "adding fuel to the fire" and striving to escalate the Russian-Ukrainian war.
