Two years on: A glimpse into Russian soldiers' perspective of the Ukraine invasion
The world held its breath on 24th February 2022. Russian forces, under the directive of Vladimir Putin, trespassed on Ukrainian territory.
The Russian President then addressed the nation, announcing the commencement of a special military operation. He stated that the objective was to save Donbas's people from "genocide" and for the "demilitarisation and denazification of Ukraine".
A Russian was interrogated; the Ukrainian was surprised
The Ukrainians posted a shocking video online featuring the interrogation of a captured Russian who was on the front lines. The video is indicative of how propaganda operates in Putin's Russia. The Ukrainian persistently asked - How did Ukraine pose a threat to the Vladimir region? Or to your family personally?
It didn't... - responded the questioned man, humbly, with his gaze lowered the entire time.
The Ukrainian briefly commented: "But you say you fought for your family". Then, the Russian decided to give a shocking reply. - Well, if things deteriorate, Ukrainian soldiers might also invade us - he murmured.
This reply left his interlocutor stunned and breathing heavily. - Oh no - he expressed in surprise. So, do Russians sincerely believe that they are in danger of war?
The recording garnered a multitude of comments. "The Vladimir region east of Moscow... is he some sort of pessimist or something?" - enquired one individual. "No, no... if they're planning to encircle Moscow, then those words are prophetic!" - noted another. "Wow, what have they been propagating within the army" - pondered yet another.
