Aston Martin has confirmed that its Valkyrie hypercar will compete in the 2025 season of the most prestigious endurance racing series. The car will debut on 28 February during the 1,800-km (1,125-mile) Qatar race and later appear in the 24-hour Le Mans race, making this edition exceptional.

The Valkyrie hypercar is the only vehicle in its class based on a road-legal model. It is equipped with a 6.5-litre naturally aspirated V12 engine, the same as in the road version, but limited to 680 horsepower to meet hypercar class regulations. Aston Martin has adapted the power unit to endurance racing requirements, optimising torque and fuel consumption.

After halting the project in 2020, Aston Martin resumed work on the racing version of the Valkyrie, conducting over 15,000 km (9,300 miles) of testing on tracks worldwide. The car features unique aerodynamic solutions, including a redesigned rear wing and a "shark fin," a quick-change panel system and a pneumatic jack.

In the WEC championship, Marco Sorensen, Tom Gamble, Alex Riberas, and Harry Tincknell will drive two Valkyrie hypercars in green livery. Thanks to a partnership with The Heart of Racing, these cars will represent the Aston Martin brand in the fight for top trophies.

In the IMSA series, one Aston Martin Valkyrie hypercar will appear in THoR blue livery, debuting during the 12-hour Sebring race in March. Ross Gunn and Roman de Angelis will be behind the wheel.

Adam Carter, head of Aston Martin Endurance Motorsport, described this as a perfect time to enter the highest level of sports car racing. He praised the collaborative efforts of ACO, IMSA, and FIA in developing increasingly popular championships, expressing full support for their work. Carter highlighted their success in shaping the format and promoting the series, calling it a golden era for sports car racing and an opportunity to compete globally in a fair and competitive environment.
