President-elect Donald Trump stated that Sylvester Stallone, Mel Gibson, and Jon Voight will serve as "special ambassadors" to Hollywood. Trump emphasised that the actors will be his "eyes and ears."
A new role for the stars
In his post on Truth Social, Trump claimed that Hollywood has lost significance to foreign countries. The actors he selected are to act as special envoys to make Hollywood "bigger, better, and stronger than ever before." "These three very talented people will be my eyes and ears, and I will get done what they suggest. It will again be, like The United States of America itself, The Golden Age of Hollywood!" Trump wrote.
All three actors are known for their right-wing sympathies and support for Trump. Stallone called him "the second George Washington," and Voight called him "the greatest president since Abraham Lincoln."
The "Variety" portal noted that the announcement came in the context of the fires in Los Angeles and the film industry's problems. Last year's box office revenues were £7.1 billion, which is a decrease of 3.3% compared to 2023, and 23.5% less than before the Covid-19 pandemic.
