Trump eyes February talks as Putin optimism grows
The US President Donald Trump announced that he will probably meet with Vladimir Putin before the end of February.
Trump also praised the results of talks with the Russians in Riyadh, claiming that they give him "great confidence" in the chances of achieving peace.
Trump-Putin meeting "probable"
During a conversation with journalists, Trump was asked about plans to meet with Putin. He responded that it is "probable." The US President also expressed satisfaction with the initial talks between the American and Russian delegations in Riyadh, which he believes indicate Russia's willingness to cooperate to end conflicts.
Trump emphasised that the talks were "very good" and that Russia wants "to stop the wild barbarism."
On Tuesday in Riyadh, the first meeting in years between the American and Russian delegations took place. In the capital of Saudi Arabia, the heads of diplomacy from both countries - Sergey Lavrov and Marco Rubio - held talks. During the meeting, it was agreed, among other things, to establish special teams concerning the end of the war in Ukraine.
