Tragedy on Tabasco highway: 36 dead in fiery bus crash

The accident happened on the route from Cancún to Comalcalco in the state of Tabasco. For unknown reasons, the lorry swerved into the opposite lane, leading to a head-on collision with the bus. As a result of the collision, the passenger-carrying vehicle caught fire, contributing to the high number of casualties.

Dangerous section of the road

The Tabasco Hoy portal noted that the site of the accident is known for dangerous road conditions. The Governor of Tabasco, Javier May, expressed condolences to the families of the victims.

The transportation company Acosta, to which the bus belonged, assured cooperation with the authorities to explain the causes of the tragedy. It was emphasised that the vehicle did not exceed the speed limit.

This accident is one of the most tragic in recent years in Mexico. The investigation into the causes of the collision is ongoing, and local authorities are urging caution on the roads.
