The well-known dating app Tinder will soon be enhanced with an interesting addition. Soon, it will be possible to use the "Share My Date" function, which works exactly as its name suggests. How can using this function increase safety during meetings with strangers?
Tinder wants to increase the safety of its users
In today’s world, as we spend more and more time working and our social interactions move to the virtual realm, platforms like Tinder often become the main places to make new acquaintances. Unfortunately, meetings with people we only know from online messaging are not always completely safe.
For this reason, Tinder has introduced a feature that can help its users at least slightly increase their level of safety. When planning a meeting with another app user, we will have the option to share the details of the planned date with someone close by. Such a "note" will contain information about the time and place of the meeting. You can also add a photo and the age of the person you meet, facilitating their identification.
The "Share My Date" function will not make our plans accessible to everyone. This tool is meant to be discreet, as Tinder will generate a unique link that can be sent to a selected person.
The new function responds to the needs of younger users
Introducing this feature is a thoughtful action on Tinder's part. Before deciding on it, research was conducted, which showed that a significant portion of users under 30 years old already share the details of their dates with friends. It seems, therefore, that the new feature in Tinder will only facilitate this practice. Recently, the possibility of a video date was also introduced, which also helps increase safety during the first meeting.
The introduction date of Tinder's new feature is not yet known, but it is known that it will happen in the coming months. The tool will be introduced first in 19 countries, but there is no information about whether the UK will also be on this list. Over time, it is to be made available to all app users.
It is worth informing friends about a planned meeting with someone we only know from the app. This way, we can protect ourselves against fraud, stalking, or even an attempted assault. If we decide to go on such a date, it's good to take advantage of every support form, including those offered by apps. iPhone users, for example, can use the "Check In" function, which works similarly to Tinder's new proposition.
