Hunt for armed suspect intensifies in Central Park chase
The New York police are searching for a man who shot a 47-year-old and fled to Central Park. The victim was struck in the leg and arm—there is no threat to his life. A spectacular video of the police action in the underground has appeared online.
The New York Police Department (NYPD) is looking for the shooter. A 47-year-old man was shot in the leg and arm. He was immediately taken to the hospital. His condition is stable.
According to police findings, the suspect fled towards the underground station for lines A, B, and C at 72nd Street and Central Park West. There, he jumped onto the tracks and ran through the tunnel heading north.
Despite the power shutdown and tunnel search, he hasn't been found. Officers suspect he might have left the tunnel through an emergency exit at 76th Street and are continuing the search in Central Park.
"I heard two loud shots"
The wanted man is about 183 cm tall. At the time of the incident, he was wearing a white hat, a green jacket, and a blue hoodie. He was holding a black gun.
A witness to the incident, Steve Greene, told ABC News that he heard two loud shots, jumped out of the car, ran there, and saw the shooter. According to Greene, the perpetrator stood there, aiming his gun. Greene also heard the sound of breaking glass.
The police have not yet revealed whether the victim knew the perpetrator or what the motive for the attack was. The "Daily Mail" reports that the investigation is ongoing, and officers are appealing to witnesses to come forward.
