The secret ingredient that elevates homemade garlic sauce
Garlic sauce is one of many people's favourite additions. It pairs beautifully with homemade pizza on thick yeast dough, salads, toasts, and meats. One simple addition will elevate its flavour to a completely new level, one that even the sauce from your favourite restaurant cannot match.

In my house, there is certainly no shortage of garlic sauce lovers. It always appears on the table next to roasted or grilled meats, goes into a pasta salad with chicken and corn, and the children excitedly spread a thick layer on homemade mushroom casseroles. Preparation seems simple; after all, it is just garlic, yoghurt, and a dash of mayonnaise. However, I add one ingredient that seemingly does not fit the distinctive dip. For years, my garlic sauce was considered the best, and everyone made it the same way when I revealed my secret.
The secret of my sauce lies in an unusual addition—a bit of honey. At first glance, garlic sauce with honey looks strange. However, it is a masterful combination, as honey enhances the flavour and, in the right amount, definitely does not overwhelm the dish's taste.
Ingredients:
- 200 grams of plain yoghurt,
- 1 tablespoon of mayonnaise,
- 2 cloves of garlic,
- half a teaspoon of honey,
- salt and pepper to taste,
- chopped parsley or chives (optional).
Instructions:
- Transfer the yoghurt to a bowl and add the mayonnaise.
- Press the garlic through a garlic press. The number of cloves can be adjusted to your preference.
- Mix thoroughly with honey, salt, pepper, and chopped herbs.
A simple and tasty garlic sauce with a bit of honey is ready. Enjoy!
