The morning ritual that outshines coffee: The power of water
Most of us feel the need to drink something immediately after waking up. Some go straight for an energy boost in coffee or tea, while others stick to water. Dr Magdalena Cubała-Kucharska decided to summarise the effects of drinking water on an empty stomach.

Many of us commence our daily duties immediately after waking up. Whether taking care of children, working, attending school, or even walking a dog already waiting at the door with a pleading look, we rarely have time to focus on our health. Hence, the fondness for morning coffee is supposed to provide an energy boost for a good morning. However, there is a drink that will get us on our feet even better.
A drink better than coffee
For years, it's been a mantra that we should reach for a glass of water more often. Dr Magdalena Cubała-Kucharska, a doctor running the Institute of Integrative Medicine near Warsaw, talked about the benefits of drinking water in the morning on her Instagram. It turns out that one glass of lukewarm water can work absolutely wonders.
Dr Cubała summarised all the benefits of drinking water in the morning. Each of these points is real "gold" and proof that it's worth making drinking water your daily morning ritual.
Why drink water on an empty stomach?
As Dr Cubała explains, water hydrates the digestive tract and intensifies the secretion of digestive juices, thus stimulating the digestive system to work. Thanks to water, the intestines work better, which helps eliminate problems with bowel movements. Drinking water also supports the body's detoxification process.
Reaching for a glass of this drink regularly helps maintain good health. Dr Cubała emphasises that although water's impact on the skin is the most well-known context, this fluid excellently affects all tissues.
Drink to your health
It seems that drinking water on an empty stomach has a beneficial effect on the body. Moreover, preparing water is much less time-consuming than brewing coffee. So, if you're short on time in the morning, it's worth considering reaching for water to boost your energy. It will allow for an equally effective, if not better, start to the day.
