Morgan Freeman, renowned for his role in "The Shawshank Redemption", was seen on 24th November in Los Angeles, dining with friends at the Giorgio Baldi restaurant in Santa Monica. The 87-year-old actor chose a casual outfit: a flannel shirt, a black cap, and black trousers. Observers noted he was wearing a beige compression glove on his left hand. What’s the story behind this?
Morgan Freeman: a serious car accident
Several years ago, at the age of 71, the actor survived a severe car accident. It is believed the star fell asleep at the wheel, leading his car to veer off the road and overturn. Firefighters had to extract him unconscious from the wreck. He was then taken to hospital.
As a result of the accident, he suffered a severe injury and nerve damage to his left hand, which has remained paralysed. Consequently, Freeman must wear a specialised glove to prevent blood pooling in that area. Additionally, he suffers from fibromyalgia and continuously endures shoulder pain, which also causes stiffness.
Freeman remains professionally active. He will soon appear in three new films, including "Now You See Me 3," in which he will reprise the role of Thaddeus Bradley. The actor also appears in the series Lioness on the SkyShowtime platform.
When asked how he maintains his position in Hollywood, Freeman replied: "Acting is easy. Getting work is hard. So, what you have to do is just keep moving forward. Just keep trying." In an interview with Jennifer Hudson, who praised his achievements, Freeman modestly stated: "I’m not too far out of the ordinary, I hope."
