Terror in Moscow's shadow: Putin's next move in a shaken Russia
For the past few days, the entire world has been witnessing a horrifying terrorist attack on the outskirts of Moscow. Experts speaking with "Fakt" have said this tragic event shows a weakness in Putin's regime. The question now is, what steps might the Russian leader take next? The reports are concerning.

The tragic terrorist attack took place at Crocus City Hall in Krasnogorsk, near Moscow. As a result, 144 people were killed, and nearly a hundred were injured, many of whom are still receiving treatment in hospitals. The magnitude of this tragedy has not only shocked Russia but also the world.
The dreadful assault was claimed by the Islamic State Khorasan Province.
What will Putin do after the attack near Moscow?
Is Putin going to use this horrific incident for his further plans? He has already hinted at "a Ukrainian trace in the whole matter," according to experts speaking with "Fakt" about the outcomes of the tragedy in Krasnogorsk.
"We will see what Putin does. He waited nearly a day to address the attack. In his 5-minute statement, he suggested a Ukrainian connection. The propaganda machine has taken this direction, but the link to Islamic extremism is still very pronounced," Anna Łabuszewska, the author of the blog "17 Moments of Russia" and former analyst at the Centre for Eastern Studies, told "Fakt."
According to Łabuszewska, Putin's response can be seen in two parts: the visible actions and those conducted behind the scenes.
"The visible embarrassment of the special services must be cleverly managed. The propaganda will defend the government's actions. They're already highlighting how 'Russian peace' is built on solidarity and cooperation, showcasing people donating blood for the victims, and so forth. Previously, all efforts were focused on detecting anti-Ukrainian sentiments, possibly overlooking clear warnings of an attack. Putin even publicly dismissed alerts from the USA," added Łabuszewska.
Łabuszewska doesn't discount the possibility of repercussions among the elites.

We should expect further Russian attacks on Ukraine
Prof. Nikołaj Iwanow from Opole University, another expert speaking to "Fakt," anticipates Putin could opt for a mobilization scenario. If this occurs, further attacks on Ukraine, possibly reaching the heart of Kyiv, could be expected.
"This is likely to be part of a larger display of patriotism and a sentiment that it's time to defend the homeland. More individuals might be drafted as part of this mobilization, particularly as an electronic system for issuing these orders has recently been set up. It's possible that this mobilization will be carried out gradually and not be publicly declared," stated Prof. Iwanow.
So, is it possible that Putin had a hand in the attack carried out by Islamic extremists? Prof. Iwanow doesn't support this theory. However, it doesn't alter the fact that the incident serves Putin's interests.
