Journey into the unknown
This mysterious trip was exclusively available to members of the EuroBonus loyalty program, a collection of individuals who frequently fly with the Swedish airline. The plane is set to depart from Copenhagen on April 5th, circling back to Denmark's capital three days later on April 8th.
Passengers will remain clueless to their destination until stepping on board the plane. When securing their ticket, they were informed that the flight would only be a matter of hours, with the precise location being disclosed midway through the journey in an announcement from the cabin crew. The unique concept was warmly welcomed by travellers, enticing up to a thousand potential adventurers.
"The prospect of embarking on an adventure-filled, mysterious journey alongside fellow enthusiasts and potentially making new friends is truly thrilling," confessed Paul Verhagen, Commercial Director and Executive Vice President of SAS.
Surprise journeys
This inventive travel concept is not entirely new as another European airline has previously ventured into these uncertain waters. The German company Lufthansa initiated a similar idea.
They offer their passengers the opportunity to choose a departure airport and a general idea of the holiday they'd prefer (for example, shopping, relaxing on the beach, museum visits, etc.). The final destination is only revealed after the trip has been fully paid for, with these surprise bookings not being amendable or cancellable.
