Many reports from Russian media or government sources are seen as propaganda, part of the information war by the Russian Federation.

On Sunday, around 3:00 pm GMT, another attack occurred in the Belgorod region of Russia, according to the Nexta portal. A village in the Grayvoron area was targeted. Photos illustrating the aftermath of the shelling have surfaced online.

Attack at dawn leaves Russians in fear

Sirens sounded throughout Belgorod and the region at dawn. The Russian National Defense Ministry reported that the attack was launched by Ukrainians. "The air defence systems intercepted ten missiles," the ministry announced.

A private residence was destroyed. Debris from the missiles scattered across roads and footpaths.

Conflict at the Russia-Ukraine border

Since March 12, fighting has persisted in the Russian regions bordering Ukraine, involving forces loyal to Putin's regime and Russian volunteer units aligned with Kyiv, including the Russian Volunteer Corps, the Freedom of Russia Legion, and the Siberian Battalion. These partisans have claimed control over the settlements of Tiotkino in the Kursk region and Gorkovsky in the Belgorod region.

In 2023, the Belgorod region has also been a focus for Ukrainian retaliatory shelling following Russian attacks on civilian areas in Ukraine. On December 30 of the previous year, airstrikes resulted in over 20 fatalities in Belgorod, with more than 100 people injured.
