It's important to note that many reports from Russian state media or Kremlin officials may be untrue. These reports could be part of the Russian Federation's information warfare tactics.

On Monday, the Russian Ministry of Defence claimed they had intercepted 19 RM-70 Vampire missiles above Belgorod.

Previously, in the city, residents heard the alarming sound of sirens followed by explosions.

The governor of the region, Vyacheslav Gladkov, reported that the attack left nine people injured. He shared images on his Telegram channel illustrating the damage inflicted on the city.

The UNIAN agency disclosed that one missile struck the roof of a tall building, causing debris to scatter near a shop, a school, and a cinema. Several vehicles were also damaged.

Clashes at the Russia-Ukraine border

Conflicts have erupted in Russian areas adjacent to Ukraine since March 12. These skirmishes pit Putin's regime forces against Russian volunteer units loyal to Kyiv, including the Russian Volunteer Corps, the Liberty of Russia Legion, and the Siberian Battalion. Partisans have claimed control over the towns of Tyotkino in the Kursk region and Gorkovsky in the Belgorod region.

In 2023, the Belgorod region has also been the target of Ukrainian artillery fire, a retaliation for Russian bombardments of civilian locations in Ukraine. On December 30 of the past year, airstrikes resulted in the death of more than 20 people in Belgorod, with over 100 injured.
