Streaming stunts land Jack Doherty in hot water after crash
American streamer and YouTuber Jack Doherty had a close call with death when he crashed his supercar into barriers on the motorway. A recording of the incident has gone viral, and the creator has faced criticism for his behaviour throughout the ordeal.
Heavy rain, a motorway, and high speed are a dangerous mix. Add to that a 20-year-old streamer at the wheel who was scrolling through chat messages on his smartphone instead of concentrating on the road, and you have a recipe for disaster. Jack Doherty lost control and crashed, with the footage now circulating widely online.
The streamer was accompanied by a cameraman who captured the entire crash. The video clearly shows Jack focusing intently on his phone while driving in the rain. When he eventually realised the car was skidding, he started screaming in terror as the crash became inevitable.
Jack Doherty - accident during streaming
Jack's behaviour following the accident has caused controversy. The YouTuber immediately activated the phone's recording feature to document every second of the dramatic event. While the cameraman, bleeding and in pain, sat in the passenger seat, Jack exited the vehicle and lamented over the damage to his McLaren. He seemed to show little concern for his friend's wellbeing, even as witnesses attended to the injured cameraman.
When the cameraman eventually got out of the car, it was evident that he was hurt, with a head injury. Jack briefly asked his friend if he was alright but then handed him the camera to record the YouTuber with the wrecked supercar in the background.
Jack Doherty banned on Kick
The platform Kick, where Jack Doherty was streaming, suspended the creator's account. Reportedly, the 20-year-old might recover his account if he pays a hefty sum to another streamer, Adin Ross, who commented about the accident on his channel.
Jack Doherty shared a video on Instagram from the hospital, showing the cameraman receiving stitches on his forehead.
