Skyr cake: The guilt-free cheesecake alternative for spring
The closer it gets to spring, the more often I opt for lighter desserts. Although I'm a big fan of the classic cheesecake, I now prefer its lighter version. This treat has been very well received by my family, and it's easy to make in a mini version as well.
Traditional desserts are delicious, but they're loaded with calories. The best examples are those popular during the carnival season, such as doughnuts and fried pastries. They certainly don't support a weight-loss diet. However, that doesn't mean we can't enjoy something sweet while trying to shed a few pounds.
The dessert is low in calories
A dessert that definitely won't compromise a weight-loss diet is a skyr cake. This treat is often called a 'fit cheesecake' and certainly deserves the name. You don't need fat or sugar to make it. It's based on the well-known Icelandic yoghurt made from cow's milk, called skyr.
What are the benefits of skyr?
Skyr is rich in high-quality protein, and it's also a low-calorie product. Thanks to these properties, it is often recommended as a quick snack, especially for those who watch their figure. Based on it, you can also prepare desserts that taste similar to classic cheesecakes. One such dessert is skyr cake, which is extremely simple to make. Essentially, you only need to mix the ingredients. That's why it works when you suddenly crave something sweet. It will be ready in half an hour, and you don't even have to turn on the oven, as you can also bake it in an air fryer.
