Russian troops deploy unexpected tactics on electric scooters
The 'Azov' Brigade has released footage showing Russian soldiers attacking Ukrainian positions on electric scooters. The video likely originates near Torets village in the Kramatorsk region of Donetsk Oblast.
The National Guard of Ukraine's Special Forces Brigade 'Azov' has published material demonstrating the unusual actions of Russian soldiers in Donbas.
The video shows Russians assaulting Ukrainian positions using electric scooters. The footage is believed to come from the area near Torets village in the Kramatorsk region of Donetsk Oblast.
New tactics on the front line
Russians on the front line are employing various means of transportation, such as scooters and buggies. In June, the Russian army introduced motorcycles, which, however, proved to be ineffective as they became easy targets for Ukrainian drones.
The combat effectiveness of electric scooters remains uncertain, but their use might have some advantages. Scooters are quiet, inexpensive, and can quickly cover sections of the front. They can be abandoned easily in case of danger.
Scooters on the front: used in an assassination
The discourse around scooters arose in another context. On 17th December, General Igor Kirillov was killed in an explosion caused by a device attached to a scooter. He commanded the Russian radiological, chemical, and biological defence forces.
"Kirillov was a war criminal and an absolutely legitimate target since he gave orders to use banned chemical weapons against the Ukrainian military. Such an inglorious end awaits all who kill Ukrainians. Retribution for war crimes is inevitable," emphasized an Interfax-Ukraine informant.
General Kirillov was known, among other things, for conducting briefings for the Russian Ministry of Defence since 2023. During these briefings, he claimed that the United States was involved in a biological weapons development programme in Ukraine. He argued, among other things, that the USA developed a method involving the release of "disease-carrying mosquitoes" towards opposing troops, as reported by the Telegram channels Meduza and Krymsky Veter.
