Pizza, one of the most beloved dishes worldwide, is no wonder so popular, given that on a crispy crust you can top it with virtually anything, creating the ultimate flavor combination.
But did you know that changing the ingredients isn't the only twist you can add to the recipe? It turns out you can prepare this iconic dish in a completely different manner. In this version, all the toppings and sauce sit at the bottom, while the dough is placed on top. You've never seen anything like it!
Pizza upside down has permanently found its place in my menu, and it will for you too!
Ingredients:
- 1/2 a red bell pepper,
- 1/2 a yellow bell pepper,
- 1/2 an orange bell pepper,
- 1 red onion,
- 8 slices of salami,
- 8 slices of chorizo,
- 150g of shredded mozzarella,
- 400g of pizza sauce,
- 300g of pizza dough,
- 4 tablespoons of olive oil,
- 3 tablespoons of grated Parmesan,
- fresh basil leaves for decoration.
How to make it:
Step 1. I begin the recipe by preparing the toppings, which I chop into smaller pieces. I start with the coloured bell peppers, followed by the red onion.
Step 2. Next, I place a pot on the counter that can easily go into the oven. At the very bottom, I spread a bit of olive oil, followed by the previously prepared vegetables. Lastly, I season everything with salt.
Step 3. Then, slices of salami and chorizo are added to the pot. I don't forget about the grated mozzarella and pizza sauce either, spreading the latter evenly over the surface using a regular tablespoon.
Step 4. Directly on the toppings, I spread out the pizza dough. I brush it with olive oil and thoroughly sprinkle on grated Parmesan. The pizza then goes into the preheated oven for 20 minutes at 200 degrees Celsius.
Step 5. Removing and flipping the baked pizza is as easy as pie. All you need is a large plate. I garnish the finished pizza with fresh basil leaves, and that's it. Enjoy!
