Rebuilding trust: Putin and Trump's delicate dance in Riyadh
Vladimir Putin has positively assessed the outcomes of the negotiations between the Russian and American delegations in Riyadh. "The aim of the meeting was to bolster trust between Russia and the United States," claims the leader, as reported by the Kremlin's RIA Novosti news agency.
Many reports provided by Russian media or government representatives are elements of propaganda. Such reports are part of the information war conducted by the Russian Federation.
Following Tuesday's discussions in Riyadh, Vladimir Putin emphasized that addressing urgent matters, including the Ukrainian crisis, requires strengthening trust between Russia and the United States. Without this, he noted, resolving many issues would be impossible.
Putin argues it's about trust
According to the Kremlin's RIA Novosti news agency, the Russian leader maintains that the primary aim of the meeting in the capital of Saudi Arabia was "rebuilding trust" between Russia and the USA.
"The hysteria from Kyiv caused by the negotiations between Russia and the USA is unjustified," he tries to argue. He also claims that "Russia does not interfere in the affairs of the USA and the EU" and that "Europe has no reason to react negatively to the meeting of the Russian and American delegations."
Putin's conversation with Trump
As quoted by a propaganda agency, Putin stated that during a phone call, President Donald Trump assured him that the United States intends for negotiations to involve Russia and Ukraine. He emphasized that Ukraine is not being excluded from the process.
The American and Russian delegations met on Tuesday in Riyadh for the first time in years. U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio and Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov agreed that teams will be established to work towards the swiftest possible resolution of the war in Ukraine.
