"Russia accuses us of being 'prisoners of Russophobia', but a phobia is an irrational fear. However, Russia consistently threatens us with nuclear annihilations," stated the Head of Polish diplomacy.
"He labels Ukraine as a western stooge. However, Kyiv is fighting for independence (...). He brands them as Nazis when their president is Jewish, their defence minister is Muslim, and they have no political prisoners. He alleges that Ukraine is steeped in corruption. But Alexei Navalny, through his documentation, shows the transparency and integrity of his country. He attributes the war to US neo-colonialism. In reality, Russia attempted to annihilate Ukraine in the 19th century, then was followed by the Bolsheviks, and now we see the third attempt," Sikorski highlighted to the Russian.
Besides, he also pointed out that, contrary to Russian allegations of "Russophobia," fear of Russia is not irrational.
There was a lot of online commentary regarding the Foreign Minister's speech.
Notably, the post of a Confederation politician, who has, so far, seldom been suspected of excessive praise for the diplomatic head.
"Polish Foreign Minister Radosław Sikorski spoke at the UN Security Council on the Ukraine issue yesterday. He dedicated his speech to countering claims by Russian Ambassador Vasily Nebenzya that Russia is a victim of aggressive Western policies. Thank you!" wrote Anton Heraschenko, advisor to the Ukrainian Ministry of Internal Affairs.
"Polish Foreign Minister Radosław Sikorski disclosed the reality of Russia's war against the civilised world. Here's what's missing: OUR REACTION to Russian fascism isn't IRRATIONAL. We must supply Ukraine with enough advanced weaponry to defeat Russia," wrote activist Igor Sushko.
"We have to acknowledge Radosław Sikorski's speech, the head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs at the UN Security Council, was something probably unprecedented in our contemporary diplomacy. At least, I don't remember such a bold course of action in recent years. It was quick verification, pinpoint accuracy and assertive. Many diplomats were impressed with the Polish minister's actions. Radosław Sikorski stripped naked the nonsense touted by the Russian Federation's ambassador. This recording is worth listening to," wrote Paweł Żuchowski, the RMF FM correspondent in the United States.
"Both speeches given by Minister Radosław Sikorski at the UN General Assembly and the Security Council were superb, both rhetorically and in content. Especially in the second one, he addressed the Russian ambassador, exposing his lies and Putin's racism," wrote Ryszard Kalisz.
