Paul Rudd surprises Dublin pub with an unpaid t‑shirt souvenir
The star of the film Ant-Man, Paul Rudd, unexpectedly visited the Olympia pub in Dublin. There, he joined the folk band Hermitage Green and a few regular patrons for traditional Irish drinks and local music.
The actor, known for his role as Ant-Man, is in the Irish capital to film a new movie and was featured on Instagram by local musicians. Hermitage Green shared a video with their 30,000 followers, showing their encounter with Rudd.
In the video, Paul Rudd, dressed in grey tracksuit bottoms, a hoodie, and a brown jacket, enjoys a small glass of poitín - a traditional Irish drink. The actor raises a toast with singer and guitarist Dan Murphy, saying "sláinte" and clinking glasses with the band members. In the next scene, the musicians perform the traditional Scottish farewell song "The Parting Glass," which Rudd listens to attentively alongside other guests. At the end, the actor smiles and takes a sip of his drink.
It turned out that Rudd liked the band so much that he took a shirt with their logo but forgot to pay 15 euros (about £13). Hermitage Green jokingly commented in the post's description: "We finished sound check in the Olympia yesterday and slipped out for a quiet pint of Guinness and a poitín chaser. If anyone sees Paul Rudd walking around Dublin wearing a Hermitage Green tshirt go up and say hello to him, he’s a lovely fella. And Paul if you’re reading this - you forgot to give us the 15 euro for it."
The Daily Mail reports that Paul Rudd is in Dublin for the filming of the new musical comedy "Power Ballad," which also stars Nick Jonas. The film is directed by John Carney, known for the musical comedies "Once" and "Sing Street." The plot tells the story of a wedding singer (Rudd) and a true rock star (Jonas), who become involved in a song.
