Passing of Lord Fellowes: End of an era for the British court

Lord Robert Fellowes, private secretary to Queen Elizabeth II, brother-in-law of Princess Diana, and uncle to Princes Harry and William, has passed away at the age of 82.

According to the "Daily Mail," Lord Fellowes served as the monarch's primary advisor from 1990 to 1999, a period marked by turbulent divorces within the royal family and Princess Diana's death.

During his service at the royal court, Fellowes supported the queen through some of the most challenging moments of her reign, including the so-called "annus horribilis" in 1992. This was when the public was shaken by the divorces of Queen Elizabeth II's three children and the Windsor Castle fire. Additionally, he had to face accusations from Mohamed Al Fayed, owner of the Harrods department store, who suggested his involvement in a conspiracy to cause the death of Princess Diana and his son Dodi.

Earl Spencer, Diana's younger brother, posted a touching message on social media. He described his brother-in-law's death as a great loss and pointed out his extraordinary personality—full of humour, wisdom, and absolute integrity.

Nevertheless, the prospect of reconciliation between Princes William and Harry remains unclear. Despite their personal feelings and respect for their uncle, deep differences and broken bonds between the brothers seem insurmountable, as royal experts and commentators once again highlight.
