Senior North Korean generals might indeed be present on the front lines in Ukraine, claims South Korean intelligence. Unofficial sources suggest that "key officers" from the FSB have been involved in deploying North Korean troops.

It has also been noted that North Korean soldiers are struggling with training due to the language barrier, which is why they are learning over 100 words in Russian.

Meanwhile, reports have emerged that North Korean soldiers clashed with the Ukrainian army on Friday. This reportedly happened on 25 October in the Ukraine-controlled Kursk region of Russia. Jonas Ohman, head of the well-known Lithuanian NGO Blue/Yellow, provided this information. The organisation has been assisting Ukrainian troops since 2014 and has firsthand access to information on the front lines.

"Need for weapons"

Andrii Yermak, head of the Ukrainian president's office, stated on Monday that the allies' sanctions are insufficient as a response to North Korea's involvement in the war. He emphasised that Ukraine requires weapons and a clear plan to prevent Pyongyang's further involvement in the European conflict.

The head of Volodymyr Zelensky's office reported on Telegram that North Korean troops are now present in Russia's Kursk region, close to the Ukrainian border, confirming earlier assertions with South Korean verification. He pointed out that NATO and Ukraine's allies now recognize this presence, adding that North Korea’s military role in the Ukraine conflict marks an escalation.
