According to Bloomberg's sources, should this occur, the military is likely to be transferred in groups with troop rotation over time rather than in a single deployment.
According to Bloomberg, several allies will raise the issue of North Korea's cooperation with Russia this week at the G-20 summit in Brazil, including German Chancellor Olaf Scholz during a meeting with Chinese leader Xi Jinping.
German officials say Scholz will urge the Chinese leader to leverage his influence in Russia and North Korea to prevent further escalation of the war.
Powerful weapons for Russia
North Korea has already played a critical role in providing millions of rounds of artillery ammunition for the Russian military in 2023 – wrote the British newspaper "Financial Times" on Saturday, citing information from Ukrainian intelligence.
This involves about 50 self-propelled M1989 howitzers of 170 mm calibre and 20 modernised multiple launch rocket systems based on the Soviet BM-27 "Uragan" design, capable of launching both standard and guided rockets.
Ukrainian intelligence confirmed the presence of the equipment when photos of North Korean howitzers reportedly heading to Russia circulated on social media in recent days.
"North Korea has already played a key role in supplying millions of rounds of artillery ammunition for the Russian military in 2023" – the "FT" reminded. In return, Moscow has provided Pyongyang with, among other things, military technologies for the development of North Korean missile programmes – claims a high-ranking Ukrainian official, quoted by the newspaper.
