The presidential elections in Russia wrapped up on Sunday. As anticipated, Vladimir Putin emerged victorious, garnering over 87 percent of the votes, based on the results posted on the official website of the Central Election Commission of the Russian Federation.
Julia Navalna, the widow of the late Russian opposition figure Alexei Navalny, who passed away in February, also participated in the elections. Various media outlets reported that she wrote her husband's name on the ballot.
Nawalna expressed gratitude to the voters for their support
Following her vote, Nawalna uploaded a photo on Instagram of individuals queuing outside the Russian embassy in Berlin to participate in the elections. Wearing black, the widow stands in front of a lengthy queue with cheerful people waving at the camera.
Navalna extended her thanks to everyone who was with her that day. "Thank you so much, wonderful. The best people stood with me today from 11 AM GMT for 6 hours, shoulder to shoulder in the queue at the polling station. Thank you for being there - we cried, we laughed. Thank you for continuously shouting 'Julia, we're with you' and 'Navalny'" - she shared.

In the follow-up to her post, Nawalna spoke to everyone who voted in the elections. She reiterated her promise to carry on with her late husband's mission.
"Actually (...) it's not me supporting you, but you giving me hope that not everything is lost, that we will fight again. Thank you to everyone who turned up in every city around the world. You are my backbone. I adore you all," - Nawalna stressed.
Alexei Navalny passed away on February 16, 2024, in a Russian penal colony, with his funeral held on March 1 in Moscow. The opposition leader was commemorated by many who chanted slogans such as "Navalny", "peace to his soul", and "hero".
