Natural immunity boosters: Staying healthy this winter

During the winter months, our immune system is truly put to the test. Lower temperatures, shorter days, and increased humidity can encourage the development of infections. Fortunately, there are many natural ways to boost our immunity and maintain good health throughout the season.

In winter, our immunity is particularly challenged. During this period, respiratory infections become more common, and viruses and bacteria spread easily. Keeping the body in the right condition is key to preventing diseases.

Decreased immunity can lead to frequent colds, so it's worth paying attention to several factors affecting our immunity, such as diet, hygiene, and lifestyle. It's advisable to start boosting immunity in the autumn.

How to strengthen immunity naturally?

A healthy diet is the foundation of a strong immune system. Fruits, vegetables, low-fat protein products, and healthy fats should be a permanent feature of our diet. It's beneficial to consume products rich in vitamin C, such as citrus fruits, bell peppers, or kiwi. Let's not forget about zinc, which can be found in pumpkin seeds, for instance.

Seasonal fruits and vegetables are not only delicious but also packed with nutrients. One should avoid highly processed foods and focus on natural products.

Daily consumption of items like garlic, onions, ginger, or turmeric can significantly support our immunity. These natural ingredients have antiviral and antibacterial properties. Garlic, often a natural antibiotic, can be added to many dishes. A cup of tea with ginger and lemon makes an excellent drink for winter evenings.

Let's also not forget about fermented foods. Sauerkraut or pickles are rich in probiotics, which support our gut flora, an essential component of the immune system.

How to harden the body?

Hardening the body is an excellent method to strengthen immunity. Exposing the body to varying conditions, such as heat and cold, increases its tolerance to adverse external factors. Daily walks, even on chilly days, can significantly improve our immunity.

One method also involves alternating showers – switching between warm and cold water. Such procedures stimulate circulation and boost the body's defence mechanisms. This method is especially recommended for healthy individuals who do not suffer from circulatory system issues.

Regular, moderate physical activity is one of the key factors in strengthening the immune system. Exercise promotes blood circulation, which in turn ensures more efficient delivery of oxygen and nutrients to the body's cells. In this way, we bolster the body, making it more resistant to infections.

It is important to dress appropriately for weather conditions, avoiding clothes that are too thick. Overheating the body can lead to thermoregulation disturbances and weakened immunity. Dressing in layers allows easier adaptation to changing atmospheric conditions.
