Swedish and German military aircraft intercepted a Russian Il-20 reconnaissance plane (NATO code: Coot-A) over the Baltic Sea on Saturday, NATO Allied Air Command reported on platform X on Monday.

The operation involved a Swedish JAS Gripen aircraft, which took off from a base in Sweden, and German Eurofighter jets scrambled from Latvia, with both participating in the operation to patrol the airspace of the Baltic countries.
"The interception, which was coordinated by NATO, demonstrated perfect integration of activities within the Alliance," the statement emphasised.
