On Thursday afternoon, the Vienna police initiated an intensive search for the newborn who vanished from the neonatal ward of Favoriten Hospital. "Access to the hospital is permitted only in emergency situations. There is no threat to those present," was reported on the X portal.
On Friday morning, the police announced that the child's body had been found near the hospital. The newborn's mother reported the disappearance, claiming she had left the room "for a moment." "Currently, there is no substantial evidence that the child was abducted, but this possibility cannot be ruled out," stated the APA agency.
Vienna. A drone was deployed
Police spokeswoman Anna Gutt assured that the officers did everything possible to locate the child as quickly as possible. Vehicles were checked, construction sites and the sewer network were inspected, and a drone was used after dusk.
Wiener Gesundheitsverbund, the organisation responsible for managing the hospital, emphasised that the neonatal ward was not open to the public. "To enter, visitors must ring the intercom. Staff will open the doors only when it is clear that you have access privileges," was highlighted in a statement to "Vienna Today."
