If you like well-written series, well-crafted characters, and an engaging plot, you should definitely check them out.
"Abbott Elementary," a light story about teachers' work
Let's start with something light and very enjoyable. "Abbott Elementary" is a comedy series about teachers working at an underfunded school, Abbott Elementary, a fictional school in Philadelphia. The production is created in a "mockumentary" style, which you might know from the cult classic "The Office." It involves characters in the series being aware of the camera's presence, thus creating great reactions that lift the mood each time.
"Trapped" - Icelandic darkness, mysteries, and murder
If you love crime series shot in a Scandinavian style, then "Trapped" is the perfect choice for you. The production takes place in the town of Seyðisfjörður, located in eastern Iceland. It tells the story of local police officers. Andri, Hinrika, and Ásgeir try to find out who is behind the murder of a man, whose body, fished out of the ocean, is missing a head and limbs. It's a brilliantly written story that makes it hard to turn away from the screen.
"From," a terrifying vision of life in a time loop
"From" is a science fiction horror series. It tells the story of residents trapped in a certain town, forced to live in a time loop. Leaving the town is impossible, and after sunset, terrifying creatures from the forest appear on the streets, which at first glance seem completely normal, even friendly.
"The Fall" - the hunt for a serial killer
"The Fall" is a British production about detective superintendent Stella Gibson. She is sent to Belfast to catch a serial killer roaming the city's streets. From the very beginning of the series, we know who is responsible for the murders. It's Paul Spector, a seemingly upstanding husband and father, who is also a psychotherapist. The principal roles are played by popular actors Gillian Anderson, known from "The X-Files," and Jamie Dornan, who played Christian Grey in "Fifty Shades of Grey."
"Under the Banner of Heaven" - murder in the Mormon community
"Under the Banner of Heaven" is a very challenging but excellent crime series. It tells the story of detective Jeb Pyre (a devout Mormon), who, alongside his police partner Bill Taba (a Native American), tries to unravel who is behind the brutal murder of a young woman and her small daughter. The production touches on themes of unwavering faith and blindly following the rules presented by God. Renowned actor Andrew Garfield plays the lead role.
