Mothers' ribbon campaign gains momentum, signalling the need for support
Media have mentioned a symbol that can be noticed on children's prams and women's handbags. It is a ribbon that constitutes an important signal from mothers.
Recently, there has been much talk on social media about an initiative Anna Mathur started. She believes that symbolic ribbons can be helpful for mothers with children. But how exactly are these ribbons supposed to work? Mathur explained this in an interview with journalists.
Women tie ribbons. It's an important signal
Anna Mathur, a mother of three and a psychotherapist, gave an interview to "The Mirror" some time ago, where she shared her experiences relating to the difficulties of childcare. At a critical moment, she had a certain thought.
- I was juggling three kids down the high street, one was screaming and the other two lagging behind. I felt utterly depleted and was fighting back tears. looked around me and saw strangers, other mums, families, and people on their own. I wished so much that I could have turned to someone at that moment, for a kind word, a warm smile, or an extra hand to distract a child. I felt like a couple of people could see me struggling but may have worried I'd feel offended if they offered to help - Mathur told.
Then, Anna came up with the idea of creating a symbolic signal through which mothers could ask for help. She suggested to other women that they pin ribbons to their handbags or children's prams. This symbol signifies the readiness to accept help in difficult moments and the willingness to support other parents.
She tied a ribbon and posted a photo. The response was immediate
Anna was surprised at how quickly her initiative gained popularity. Just two days after announcing the campaign, she received numerous photos from other mothers. Soon, the media picked up the topic.
