Many of the reports released by Russian state media or Kremlin officials are likely not true. Such reports may be part of an information warfare strategy by the Russian Federation.
The war in Ukraine has already lasted for nearly two and a half years. During this time - apart from the military aspect - the role of propaganda has been equally significant, with Dmitry Medvedev consistently playing a key role. The former President of Russia, known for his unwavering allegiance to Putin, has been involved in opposing Ukraine's bid to join NATO for several days.
This time he stated, "Russia must do everything to ensure that Ukraine's path to NATO comes to an end".
We must do everything to make sure that Ukraine's 'irreversible path' to NATO ends with the disappearance of Ukraine or the disappearance of NATO. Or even better - both - he wrote on social media.
Medvedev predicts the end of Ukraine
Now the former President of Russia once again commented on the potential accession of Ukraine to the alliance. According to him, "it's all just promises that everyone knows will not be fulfilled".
It is no coincidence that NATO Secretary General [Jens] Stoltenberg openly said that a positive scenario would be Ukraine joining the alliance in 2034. Which means that it will never happen – said the Russian security official.
- By that time, none of the current NATO leaders will remain in their positions [...] It is quite possible that Ukraine will also cease to exist - added Medvedev.
