Mascarpone and orange dessert to rival tiramisu's reign

Oranges entice with their vibrant colour on store shelves. They are not only delightful as a standalone snack but also serve as a fantastic ingredient in a delicious, creamy dessert. Ordinary creams and puddings quickly become less appealing by comparison.

This simple recipe for a dessert with mascarpone and oranges is a favourite at family afternoon gatherings and get-togethers with friends. It's creamy, light, and just the right amount of sweetness, appealing to all guests. Moreover, it turns out perfectly every time, even for those who don't usually indulge in dessert-making.

Simple dessert with mascarpone and oranges

Italian, creamy mascarpone cheese combined with cream and oranges transforms into a dessert that easily rivals even the iconic tiramisu. The addition of fruit adds a light, fresh touch. This dessert is perfect for wintry weather, springtime showers, or warm summer days. It’s ideal for both special occasions and ordinary days when the craving for a delicious afternoon treat arises.

This dessert is best served in individual glass dishes. You can use a special pastry bag or simply a regular spoon to ensure the cream looks aesthetically pleasing in the dish.

Ingredients:

  • 5 oranges,
  • 600 ml heavy cream (36%),
  • 300 g mascarpone cheese,
  • 120 g sugar,
  • 3 eggs,
  • 50 g cornflour,
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract.

Decoration:

  • orange pieces,
  • orange zest,
  • fresh mint.

Preparation:

Step 1. Cut the oranges in half and squeeze out the juice. Set aside half of it and add the cornflour to it. Mix well.

Step 2. Crack the eggs into a pot, add the vanilla extract and sugar, and mix thoroughly. Pour in the other half of the juice (without cornflour) and heat. Then add the juice with cornflour and cook until a thick pudding forms. Set aside to cool.

Step 3. Pour the chilled cream into a bowl and whip it. Towards the end of whipping, add the mascarpone cheese one spoonful at a time along with the cooled orange cream.

Step 4. Transfer the finished cream to glass dishes. Decorate with orange zest, fruits, and fresh mint. Enjoy!
