Russia comments on the election results in the USA
"Let's remember, we are talking about an unfriendly country, which is directly and indirectly engaged in the war against our state," Peskov stated, commenting on the unofficial results of the presidential elections in the USA. The independent Russian portal Meduza quoted him.
When asked whether the lack of congratulations would worsen relations with the USA, the Kremlin spokesperson commented that "further deterioration is practically impossible because the relations are at the worst moment in history."
Peskov also referred to Trump's pre-election promises that, if elected, he would cause an end to the war in Ukraine. In his view, the USA "is capable of helping to end the conflict," but it cannot be done "overnight." He also stated that "it is precisely the USA that continually adds fuel to the fire of this conflict and participates in it directly."
