The dishwasher operates in constant contact with water and strong detergents, which might make it seem like one of the cleanest appliances in the home. Nonetheless, a substantial amount of residue can build up inside, including limescale.

When does your dishwasher need descaling?

If you notice that the dishes you take out lose their shine and look unsightly, it might be a sign of limescale building up at the bottom. Fortunately, there's a solution. Below, we present the simplest way to describe your dishwasher.

Your dishwasher requires special care. To function efficiently, ensure you always have the right amount of salt and rinse aid. Salt helps to soften the water, and rinse aid ensures that the dishes will have a beautiful shine. Cleaning tablets might not be sufficient to maintain the interior in perfect condition.

The filter and bottom of the dishwasher are areas that require regular cleaning to ensure the appliance works optimally. How should you proceed? First, empty the dishwasher and remove the filter. Wash it thoroughly with a sponge, then soak it in a solution of warm water with added baking soda and citric acid. Wait 10 minutes, then put the filter back in place.

Once the filter is back in place, sprinkle the bottom of the dishwasher with 100 grams of baking soda and 50 grams of citric acid. Add a few drops of your favourite essential oil if you want a pleasant aroma to emanate from the interior. Finally, run the programme at the highest temperature. Repeat this cleaning process once a month to help keep the dishwasher in excellent condition.
