A dangerous incident occurred on Monday in Romania. A 34-year-old Syrian citizen threw a Molotov cocktail at the building of the Israeli embassy. His motive remains unknown. This is another attack on Israel-related facilities in recent months.

The Israeli Ministry of Foreign Affairs reported the attack on the embassy. Romanian services also issued separate statements.

"A foreign citizen was detained in Romania’s capital on Monday after allegedly attacking the entrance of the Israeli Embassy with a Molotov cocktail, causing a small fire but no casualties. A 34-year-old man was apprehended by antiterrorism officers from the Romanian Intelligence Service before police arrived at the scene," - reported the Romanian intelligence.

No one was killed in the attack, and there were no injuries. The incident also did not significantly damage the embassy's infrastructure.

Local media reported that the perpetrator of the attack was a 34-year-old man from Syria. His motives are currently unknown. They are to be clarified by the investigation initiated in this matter.

A wave of anti-Semitism against the backdrop of Israel's operation in the Gaza Strip

In many countries, the number of anti-Semitic incidents has increased since the outbreak of the war between Israel and Palestine in the autumn of last year.

As a result, Israeli diplomatic missions around the world are taking extraordinary precautionary measures. Recently, similar attacks on Jewish state embassies have occurred, among others, in Sweden and Belgium.
