The Hungarian Foreign Minister Péter Szijjártó stated on Facebook that he had a phone conversation with Israeli Foreign Minister Israel Katz and his Iranian counterpart Ali Bagheri.
"Hungary's position is clear: we cannot allow Israel to be the target of such a terrorist attack as occurred in October last year. Everything must be done to prevent a large regional war outbreak," he wrote.
At the same time, Israel Katz informed the media that Szijjártó received information from Iran that Tehran had decided on its next step.
- Iran informed us that they intend to attack Israel, he said. His words were quoted by the "Jerusalem Post". - The world should demand that Iran pays for any aggressive action it takes, he added.
Escalation in the Middle East
In recent months, the situation in the Middle East has become extremely tense. Last week, there was an attack on Beirut, which resulted in the death of Fuad Shukr, a military leader of Hezbollah. The next day, in an attack on Tehran, the political leader of Hamas, Ismail Haniyeh, was killed. Both Iran and Hamas accuse Israel of responsibility for these attacks, although Israel has not confirmed its involvement.
The US believes that the attack may occur on Monday or Tuesday. Secretary of State Antony Blinken is said to have conveyed this information during a conversation with G7 ministers.
Israel is preparing for the possibility of several days of rocket and drone raids from Iran and its allies. According to NBC, Israel expects that the opponent will try to "exhaust" them. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, during the Sunday security cabinet meeting, assured that any attack would be met with a response.
