There is probably nothing worse in the kitchen than spoiled food products. Everything has its expiration date, and fruits especially suffer from this in the summer. Is there a way to extend their life? According to a particular food technologist—yes. She shared her trick.

We are all aware that without the right amount of fruit in our diet, our health and body condition will be questioned. So, we stock our homes with new, fresh food products straight from the local produce shop and try to make sure they are always at hand. However, this—a correct concept—comes with an unpleasant consequence. Fruit, as you probably know well, is not very time-resistant.

Especially in the summer, the rotting of fruit, losing their flavour, and moulding becomes particularly troublesome. You would certainly give a lot to avoid this. According to Marta Zaleska, a food technologist who occasionally shares her professional secrets on social media, achieving a positive result doesn't require much. And no, you don’t need to equip yourself with any particular apparatus. Indeed, what you already have at home is enough.

Food technologist advises: Do this, and fruit will stay fresh longer

Recently, a video was posted on Marta Zaleska's Instagram showing the food technologist showing her weekly strawberries. How did they look? Well, actually, just like they were picked from the bush. The question is: How is that possible? The answer can be found in the same video.

According to the specialist, we only need a bowl, paper towel, and plate to store strawberries or blueberries. Of course, we can also use a plastic, sealable food container. Either way, we must ensure that the fruit we store is not exposed to continuous contact with the air. Besides, we only need to do one more thing: cover our strawberries with a paper towel.

That's all, and so much more. As Marta Zaleska rightly pointed out, we often complain that fruit is expensive. At the same time, they are the ones we throw away most frequently due to spoilage. Therefore, it’s worth preventing this — even for your economic satisfaction.
